It's fall, y'all!

It's getting cooler out. Corn mazes and festivals and gigantic skeletons—oh, my! You cannot escape pumpkin flavoring, so don't even try. Yes, it's fall in the Carolinas and INVEST month at Shamrock Gardens! October is packed with fun activities for both kids and adults, and many of them wouldn't happen without you! Read on to learn more.

INVEST in Your School

"INVEST in Your School" is a year-long fundraising effort for the PTA but is especially celebrated in October! Our goal is 100% participation from families. By joining in this campaign with your monetary donation, you can help SGE continue to be a positive and engaging learning environment for our scholars. Visit our PTA website to learn more! Some upcoming INVEST dates:

  • Mon., Oct. 7th: Kickoff! Scholars may wear green to school to help kickoff the INVEST campaign!
  • Mon., Oct. 14th - Fri., Oct. 18th: Penny Wars (and the art of sabotage) is BACK! Scholars donate spare change to compete for a House prize. Donation jars will be outside the cafeteria.
Fall Carnival!

T-minus two weeks till the SGE Fall Carnival (Friday, October 11th, 5:00-7:00pm)!

Buy your wristband in advance through October 6th at midnight! This year, you can purchase wristbands starting at $5 each. Some activities are included with the wristband, and other activities require tickets. See the Fall Carnival page for details and the full carnival map. Adult chaperones and children ages 3 and under enjoy free admission. All minors must be accompanied by an adult.

Many volunteers are still needed; otherwise, we will not be able to offer all activities. If you are planning to come and don't have small children to supervise, please give 45 minutes of your time so scholars can enjoy this event!

VOLUNTEER AT THE CARNIVAL!
Important Reminders

SGE LUNCH DATES ARE BACK!
Have you been craving a cheese dipper? Better yet, have you been craving getting a dose of your scholar during the day? You can have lunch with your scholar in the cafeteria on Wednesdays and Fridays starting October 9th. Make sure that you are a registered CMS volunteer and that you know your scholar's lunchtime. Check in at the front office with your ID when you arrive. If you want to buy lunch from the cafeteria, you can use the balance on your scholar's PayPAM account or bring cash. Bon appétit! But speaking of visiting...

VISITOR CHECK-IN
All visitors on campus (including basketball game attendees, after-school activity participants/volunteers, landscape workers, etc.) must sign in through the visitor check-in system, LobbyGuard, to be accounted for. This is a CMS security requirement. Visitors can save time by becoming a CMS volunteer in advance. Driver's licenses are required for adults.

CAR LINE
Several message have been sent via ParentSquare, but this is another reminder to please follow all car line procedures to maximize safety and flow. Read: right turns only, and no shortcuts!

Volunteer Needs

FRIDAY CLUBS: SGE NEEDS 25 VOLUNTEERS!

Clubs provide an incredible opportunity for our scholars to learn a new craft, hobby, or topic. These twice monthly clubs are non-academic and offer scholars a fun break at the end of the week. However, we cannot make them happen without volunteers like you! Please help us make this school year the best for our scholars by volunteering to support SGE Clubs.

Check out this flyer to learn more! If you can help, and/or if there is a specific activity you are interested in providing, please email Jenny Moros, Parent Club Leader, or Ms. Miller, School Club Leader.

MORE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES!

There are plenty of opportunities to get involved and support SGE. Visit our website to learn more about opportunities like Heart Math Tutoring, Helping Hands, Thursday folders, Lucky Dads, and more! Remember to register at cmsvolunteers.com so you're set for the school year.

  • Remember to update your profile in Membership Toolkit so your scholars are linked with their current grades and teachers. This will help ensure you receive relevant updates from us! Visit shamrockpta.org and click LOGIN in the upper right corner. Click your name and then "Click here if you are trying to update your directory information." Follow the prompts to verify your information. On the Student Information page, select the correct teacher name in the Classroom Teacher dropdown. Click save, and you are done!
  • Are you confused about all the acronyms? LI/TD, PTA, CoGAT, etc.? You're not the only one! The SGE PTA website includes a glossary that will help demystify these terms and many others for you. (No cap...)

  • After-school activities: A number of excellent organizations are partnering with SGE to provide voluntary after-school programs for our scholars. See more information here! We've included a chart of potential available activities, the days of the week they are held, and which grades are eligible to participate.

  • Support SGE every day! Buy spirit wear, rent the rock, and earn while you shop.
