It's beginning to look a lot like fall...

Shamrock's biggest fall event is back! Bobby Sisk Homes, in partnership with the SGE PTA, presents the Shamrock Gardens Elementary Fall Carnival on October 6th. This annual event includes inflatables, games, music, face-painting, balloon-twisting, food trucks, and more. To avoid standing in line, purchase your $5 wristbands in advance from September 21st through October 2nd. Keep reading to learn more, and for other updates this month!

REMINDERS & UPDATES

Membership Toolkit: Don't forget to sign up for Membership Toolkit! You'll receive access to the private (optional) School Directory, the full school year PTA Events Calendar, and a signup for Rent the Rock. Simply visit shamrockpta.org and click LOGIN in the upper right corner to register for free.

Cafeteria: Starting October 2nd, families who are registered CMS volunteers will be able to come eat lunch with their scholars. If you want to buy lunch from the cafeteria for yourself, you can use the balance on your scholar's PayPAM account or bring cash. (Our advice: Trying the cheese dippers at least once is so worth it.)

Transportation: Thank you for everyone's patience while transportation bumps (no pun intended) get smoothed out during the first weeks of school. We appreciate your understanding about bus changes and accommodating families who are new to carpool procedures. Remember to follow these Car Line Procedures so drop-off and pick-up go as smoothly as possible for everyone!

Current volunteer needs

Our volunteer needs have officially ramped up! We love our volunteers and appreciate any amount of time you are able to give. If you plan to volunteer in any way (including chaperoning field trips or eating lunch with your scholar), make sure you register at cmsvolunteers.com. This must be done every year!

FALL CARNIVAL

The Fall Carnival is a big endeavor, so we need your help! We need MANY volunteers to supervise all the fun inflatables and games. Click below to sign up for a one-hour slot. We appreciate your support in making events like these possible, as they strengthen our whole community!

VOLUNTEER AT THIS YEAR'S CARNIVAL

CLUB FRIDAYS

Clubs are back! Club Fridays will start October 6th and will generally run the first and third Friday of each month through May. Grades 1-2 Clubs will be 8:30-9:20am and Grades 3-5 Clubs will be 9:30-10:20am. We need volunteers (who are registered CMS volunteers) to lead/assist with these clubs! You don't have to be an expert, just an enthusiastic and cheerful helper who enjoys working with our scholars. Sign up here.

HEART MATH TUTORING

Want to support a child at Shamrock with only one hour per week? Heart Math Tutoring trains and supports volunteers as tutors to work one-on-one with scholars who need foundational math skills and confidence. With the support of an on-site coordinator, volunteers use an easy-to-follow curriculum and work with the same scholar all year to build a relationship and strengthen skills. You can sign up to volunteer here. Available timeslots are 7:50-8:50am or 9:20-10:20am. Email volunteer@heartmathtutoring.org with any questions. This program is made possible by both your financial and time contributions to the SGE PTA!

ROOM PARENTS

We are looking for parents/guardians that would like to be room parents this year. Room Parents will replace the Grade Coordinator positions we've had in previous years. Responsibilities include:

  1. Serve as a connection point and streamline communication between the teacher and parents.
  2. Provide support to collect supplies, snacks, etc. per teacher requests.
  3. Arrange and manage signups for parent volunteers for requested events.
  4. Organize volunteers for stuffing Thursday folders and making copies.
  5. Organize family contact information.

Fill out this interest form if you would like to be a Room Parent for your scholar's classroom!

LUCKY'S LIBRARY

Lucky's Library will reopen the week of October 9th! It will be open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 7:30-8:00am to scholars who have been completing the reading logs in their agendas and have received a Lucky's Library pass from their teacher. At least one parent/guardian volunteer is needed each morning to monitor the library and help scholars as needed. It's the perfect volunteer opportunity to knock out before work or an otherwise busy day! Sign up on the PTA website.

  • ParentSquare - Keep in touch with SGE staff and your scholar's teachers
  • Here Comes the Bus - Track your scholar's bus to/from school
  • Nutrislice - View all upcoming school menus in one place
  • PayPAMS - Load and track money on your scholar's cafeteria account
  • PowerSchool - Beginning with third graders, track grades and attendance here
